Club Constitution

  1. CLUB NAME

The club will be known as: - "Kent Riders"

  1. AIMS & OBJECTIVES
  1. To promote a safe and responsible motorcycling club.
  2. To form a riding group with organised outings on a regular basis.
  3. To promote equal treatment of all its members regardless of status, gender, beliefs or ability.
  4. To ensure the club is open, friendly and inviting.
  1. AFFILIATION

This club is officially affiliated to the bmf (British Motorcycle Federation).

  1. MEMBERSHIP
  1. Membership is open to any motorcycle rider, over the age of 17. This is at the discretion of the club.
  2. All membership fees will be paid on the 1st April or within 28 days thereof.
  3. The annual membership fee will be £10.00 per year or as reviewed and agreed by the membership annually.
  4. Revoking of membership - see the rules and regulations section.
  5. Members can leave the club at any given time. No refund of club membership fees will be given.
  6. Guests attending meetings and events should be encouraged to become members after 2 months.
  1. RESPONSIBILITIES AND RIGHTS OF MEMBERS
  1. Members shall have a copy of the constitution.
  2. Members shall assist the Chairperson in organising club trips or events.
  3. Members shall participate in said trips or events where possible.
  4. Members shall attend club meetings whenever possible.
  5. Members shall pay the set dues on time.
  6. Members shall have access to the club accounts with 7 days notice to the Treasurer.
  7. Any children attending meetings or events are the responsibility of their parents/guardians.
  8. It is the responsibility of everyone attending organised ride-outs to ensure they hold the appropriate documentation and license for their vehicle.
  9. It is the responsibility of everyone attending organised ride-outs to ensure they have appropriate riding clothing.
  1. THE OFFICERS

Officers shall be Chairperson, Club Secretary and Club Treasurer.

  • The Chairperson will chair all meetings; act as official representative of the club, prepare the agenda for all meetings and organise, or delegate the organisation of, club events.
  • The Secretary will organise the bmf affiliation each year.
  • The Treasurer will be responsible for handling all funds and maintain accurate financial records.
  • The Secretary and Treasurer will jointly maintain members list and contact information of all members.

If an officer leaves mid year a replacement will be elected at the next meeting.

Should it be deemed by club members that an Officer is failing in their duty of office, a club meeting will be called and if appropriate that person may be removed from office following a hearing and members vote. The vote must represent 60% of the members present at that particular meeting. The office bearer may continue to be a club member unless members propose otherwise.

  1. FINANCE
  1. The club's financial year is 1st April – 31st March.
  2. Annual accounts will be presented to the club at the first meeting of the financial year.
  3. Annual membership is £10.00 per member.
  4. The use of all monies is to benefit the current paid members of the club.
  5. Any spending must be authorised by at least 2 officers.
  6. Should the club fold, any monies remaining in the account will be used to pay any creditors. Any further monies remaining will be split between reputable charities voted for by the remaining Committee. No member should profit from any dissolution.
  7. This club is a non profit club.

 

  1. MEETINGS
  1. Members should make every attempt to attend monthly club meetings.
  2. Voting and decision making will be made at meetings where at least 7 members of the club are represented at that meeting and a 60% vote is required for any proposals to be carried.
  1. RULES AND REGULATIONS

All members MUST conduct themselves in a proper manner at all times.

Any club member considered to have behaved in a manner which is thought improper or likely to bring the club into disrepute can have their membership withdrawn; this will be after the individual case has been discussed and voted on by members.

  1. AMENDMENTS

Amendments to this constitution can be raised by any member. They should be directed to the Chairperson in the first instance who will take the suggested change to the next club meeting. The minimum vote required for passing a constitutional amendment is 55% of club membership.
